OBESIDAD INFANTIL E HIPERTENSIÓN REDACCIÓN DE THE DOCTORS

The hypertension may begin in the early years of life, because the risk that obese children have high quadruples compared to normal weight children. This was demonstrated by a study presented at the scientific sessions of the conference on hypertension which is celebrating American Heart Association (AHA).
Specifically the study has followed growth and blood pressure of 1,117 children for 27 years. Now, of those children have hypertension 6% of those who had a normal weight, 14% of those who were overweight as children and 26% of those who were obese .
The relationship between childhood obesity and because hypertension is unclear. As Dr. Sara E.Watson, author of the study, pointed out that " it is important that pediatricians counsel their patients about the risk of hypertension associated with overweight, obesity and stress , and that a healthy diet, including reducing salt intake and exercise-can help reduce this risk. "
Consequences of hypertension
Along the same line has commented Dr. Empar Lurbe, who heads a research group on the consequences of childhood obesity in the Network Research Center of Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition (CIBERobn). Lurbe also warned that " hypertension has a number of implications, both blood vessels and at the level of the heart or kidney level . "
Lurbe also recalled that "hypertension is considered when a child is continuously systolic pressure and / or diastolic pressure above the 95th percentile in relation to sex, age and height".
